Train like an Olympian, or at least recover like one!

This month we’re talking about how to stay fit and active at any age or level. It’s only fitting that we take a look at how the best of best do it while we are in the midst of the Summer Olympics.

First, a little history lesson: Hippocrates was a Greek physician and considered to be the father of modern medicine. He was one of the first to say use Nature to heal your body.
Ancient Greeks greatly emphasized strengthening and building the body’s innate resistance to disease. Hippocrates recommended exercise, gymnastics, massage, and hydrotherapy for this. He stated that “Nature itself is the best physician”

Training like an Olympian takes dedication, hard work and a strategic approach. There are essential components to that training and recovery for athletes to perform at their best in competitive athletics.

1. Set clear goals! Start with specific, measurable goals that you want to achieve in your sport or active lifestyle in order to remain focused and motivated.
2. Create a training plan. Work with someone to design a detailed plan that includes a mix of cardio, strength training, flexibility and skill-specific drills. Not an elite level athlete? Find someone who

The Healing Power of Foot Soaks

The Healing Power of Foot Soaks
A foot soak is a simple therapeutic practice where you immerse your feet in warm water, often mixed with various ingredients such as salts, essential oils, herbs, or other natural substances. Massaging the feet may also be a part of the experience. Foot soaks have been used for centuries as a simple and effective method for relaxation, pain relief, and improving foot health, and are a simple, affordable way to promote overall foot health and well-being.
Components of a Foot Soak:
• Water: Warm water is the primary component of a foot soak. It should be at a comfortable temperature, typically around 98-104°F (37-40°C).
• Additives:
o Salts: Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) or sea salt is often added for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
o Essential Oils: Oils like lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, and tea tree can enhance the soak with aromatherapy benefits and additional health properties.
o Herbs: Fresh or dried herbs such as chamomile, rosemary, and calendula can be added for their soothing and medicinal qualities.
o Other Additives: Ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, or oatmeal can be included to address specific foot concerns, such

The Mystery surrounding Shungite

Shungite is a black, lustrous, non-crystalline mineraloid mostly made up of carbon. It was first described from a deposit near Shunga village, in Karelia, Russia, from where it gets its name. Shungite is unique and has attracted attention for various applications, from water purification to other health benefits such as EMF protection.

Shungite is a fascinating mineral with a rich history and a variety of uses. Its high carbon content, conductivity, and presence of fullerenes make it unique among minerals. It has been used traditionally for water purification and has gained popularity for its EMF shielding properties more recently. Care should be taken in using Shungite for water purification as it needs to be a cleansed version of Shungite and a specific process in order to avoid the unintended consequence of introducing heavy metals.
For EMF and other protection, it is not recommended to have electronics in contact with the body long term. Cellphones in pockets or computers held directly on your lap for long periods are discouraged. Shungite can help decrease those exposures by absorbing a portion of the waves. It can be adhered to electronics (cellphones, tablets and laptops), worn on the body (bracelets and pendants) or

Are you in Balance? Part 2…

Are you in Balance? Part 2…

Welcome to our two part series on Balance.

Being balanced can refer to both a physical need and also an emotional, mental or spiritual need.

Finding balance in our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being is the focus of part 2 of our balance series. This is like tending to the different parts of ourselves that make us feel whole. Mentally, it’s about nurturing our thoughts and beliefs, finding ways to manage stress, and staying mentally sharp. Emotionally, it’s about understanding and expressing our feelings in healthy ways, building resilience, and fostering positive relationships. Spiritually, it’s about connecting with something greater than ourselves, whether through religion, nature, or personal beliefs, and finding meaning and purpose in life. When we prioritize these aspects of ourselves and strive for balance, we create a foundation for overall well-being and fulfillment.
Achieving mental, emotional, and spiritual balance involves practices and habits that nourish each aspect of our being.

Are you in Balance? Part 1…

Welcome to our two part series on Balance.

Being balanced can refer to both a physical need and also an emotional, mental or spiritual need. For part 1 of our series, we will focus on the physical portion. Do you or someone you know have issues with balance or stability? Are you afraid of falling, or maybe shuffle your feet when you walk, catch your toe on objects or generally feel clumsy in a busy environment? Do you need to hold on to something to feel steady when you are out in public?

Physical balance is the body’s superpower that helps us stay steady and coordinated when we move around. It’s all about keeping our body in control, whether we’re standing still or on the go. Imagine trying to walk a tightrope without balance—it would be pretty tricky! That’s why having good balance is so important for everyday tasks like walking, running, or even just bending down to pick something up. It’s our body’s way of staying safe and efficient.
Having good balance isn’t just about not falling over—it’s also about keeping our muscles and joints
